The Taproom Experience
In a city that is so career focused and forward, you can truly shed your "work voice" at BabyCat and actually relax and connect with friends and family. We believe in as casual of an experience as possible. You can belly up at the bar and grab a beer, you can get beers at the service counter and sit wherever you please, you can flag down one of our team members and order beers from them, and you can also order beers on your mobile device via a QR code. We decided to do away with the typical "formalities" one would expect at a microbrewery and go with a different service model.
Our staff is top notch. We hired primarily on personality and it shows. We wanted our staff to be fresh, up beat, and most of all fun to drink with! They work hard and all get along with each other. The staff single handedly create the vibe of BabyCat, and its so cool.

Hang out in style
The taproom itself was designed to feel like you're at my house. It is adorned with elements I have imagined, designed, discovered, and some I even implemented myself. Here are a few:
The foot rail at the bar is an actual piece of retired CSX train track. I drove it here from WV and refurbished it from a rusted out piece of steel to a beautiful polished foot rail for customers. It weighs 875lbs and isn't even bolted down!
The bar, high top table, and counter tops are all live edge tulip poplar wood that was sourced from Makers Woodshop outside of Baltimore.
The back wall of the taproom is a live wall with a geometric design. Each section has different plant types built into it. It is down lit by LEDs that give the space a very nice piece of ambiance.
The bench seating is all Amish made from Western PA reclaimed barn wood. (where I am from)
Hanging all over the taproom you can see authentic restored historic pendant lamps from the 1910s, 20s, 30s,40s, and 50s. My personal favorite are the 2 "Cobalt Blue Pittsburgh Street Series Lamps" from 1910 hanging over the high top table in the back. Pittsburgh is my hometown! I sourced them from a connection I made with a collector in the middle of Wisconsin.
The outdoor space is lined with cedar and Corten steel planters. It has a stage for bands, wood chip area with Adirondack chairs, turf area with picnic tables, and a blue stone patio that is covered by an 80 person (adults only) upper deck. The outside also has a slightly private area that we call the "Secret Garden". This area sits directly beneath CSX train tracks and has 1950s and 40s manufacturing lamps, awnings, a TV, 2 elevated bar tops, and a gazebo with dart boards.
